Our next stop on the fairy tale route – Verden an der Aller

Verden an der Aller is a charming town in Lower Saxony, Germany, that deserves a spot on your travel bucket list.

It offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty that will leave you enchanted.

And with Alma the Adria occupying one of the free motorhome spaces right on the edge of the town we couldn’t be in a better location.

It’s like you have Stepped back in time as you wander through Verden’s historic center.

The town boasts a well-preserved medieval core, with cobblestone streets lined with colorful half-timbered houses.

The 13th-century Dom St. Petri, a majestic cathedral with soaring spires, dominates the skyline. Inside, you’ll find stunning stained glass windows and intricate carvings that tell stories of the town’s past.

Verden is renowned for its rich equestrian heritage. Nicknamed the “Reiterstadt” (Horse Town), the town has been a center of horse breeding and equestrian sports for centuries.

You could visit the Deutsches Pferdemuseum to learn about the history of horses in the region and witness breathtaking displays of horsemanship ( sadly closed for winter holibobs whilst we were there)

Although not directly related to any fairy tale (that we know of) it’s another stunning stop on the official fairy tale route .
