And what better way to experience this rich tapestry of this epic town than by walking its history trail, which is marked with brass plaques in the footpaths.

starting at the Cathédrale Saint-Vincent. This stunning Gothic cathedral, with its soaring spires and intricate stained-glass windows, is a masterpiece of medieval architecture. Inside, you’ll be awestruck by the nave’s grandeur and the vibrant colors of the choir stalls.

From the cathedral, continue your walk to the Musée Denon, housed in a former Ursuline convent. This museum boasts a rich collection of art and artifacts, from prehistoric tools to Gallo-Roman sculptures and Renaissance paintings. Take your time to admire the exhibits and learn about the region’s fascinating history.

Next, step back in time to the Roman era at the Cryptoportique. This underground gallery, dating back to the 1st century AD, was once used for storage and as a shelter. As you explore its cool, vaulted chambers, imagine the Roman soldiers and citizens who walked these very same stones.

As you wander through the town’s charming streets, be sure to admire the half-timbered houses dating back to the Renaissance period. These colorful houses, with their intricate woodwork and decorative balconies, add to the town’s historical charm.
