Another stamp in our N2 Passport – Viseu
After a peaceful night in Lamengo with just the chimes of the bells for company, we kinda of decided that perhaps we should drive a little more 10 or 15 km a day – So que the massive drive south of 60, yes, 60km !
Do bear in mind that we sticking to Portugals N2 which does scenically meander though tiny villages and up and down each and every hillside, the joy of the slow road is you get the opportunity to witness the ever changing landscape, leaving behind the Douro Valley and its vineyards the flora and fauna around us has been green and lush in a remarkable transformation.
Our next stop on this winter road trip, was somewhere I knew anything about, so no pre planned sightseeing in mind, just in the back of my head a clip from an old series of ‘Race around the world’ where they had quickly busted looking for a friend (who obviously wasn’t around) to give them a lift …….
With Alma our 5 start Adria hotel on wheels on one of the 8 free spaces on the city’s aire (N 40.6647, W 7.91747), which I’m not going to lie isn’t the most beautiful park up, in fact probably described as scruffy and looking around the rest of the carpark definitely over subscribed- but has location location location !
Tucked away in the heart of Portugal and slap bang on our N2 road trip, Viseu is a charming city that often goes overlooked by travelers.
However, for those who venture off the beaten path, Viseu offers a delightful blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
The city’s historic center, with its narrow cobblestone streets and colorful buildings, invites you to step back in time.
One of the highlights of our visit was the Cathedral of Viseu.
This magnificent Gothic cathedral, with its stunning stained-glass windows and intricate carvings, is a testament to the city’s rich religious heritage.
Our stay in Viseu was a truly memorable for all the right reasons – The city’s charm, its rich history, and its warm hospitality made it a perfect stopover.
