European motorhome Travel- VanlifePortugal

Overnight in a supermarket carpark, how bad have things got ….

A day of chores lay ahead …..

God what an awful start to a blog post, but let’s all be completely honest, we do every now and then, need to refill the fridge, as we were down to a few onions, a squishy tomato and a pointy cabbage,

With such a lack of ingredients , even my ‘ready steady cook’ mentality couldn’t win though.

But more importantly the Haribo supplies were out out !

Plus apparently you have to take all the dirty clothes from the washing bag and occasionally put them into the washing machine…..

So we set about finding a suitable place, half the time it’s easier to figure out the laundry side first, as supermarkets are normally the easy option.

So a plan was formed, amazingly we carry on Portugals N2 to the next big town Castro Verde, better still somewhere we visited before and know they had an excellent local campsite.

Looking at Google maps, it seems that they had also constructed a Lidl next to the old intermarche so that was to be our plan.

Cue more slow travel on the N2 it seems that on this leg the valley had opened up and given way to farmland.

This was definitely more farming on an industrial scale as the field where ploughed and planted for as far as the eye could see.

As we neared Castro Verde the N2 swung past our intended stop at the campsite and we easily see it was rammed to capacity, with the caravans, motorhome anexe and tents set up on every available inch.

Not to be concerned we decided that we would shop first and then see about finding somewhere to stop later.

If Carlsberg did supermarkets

But pulling into Lidl the problem’s vanished !

At this newly constructed store they have gone above and beyond for us motorhome traveler’s trying to complete the N2.

At one end of the carpark, 6 dedicated long and wide spaces with all the required services on hand.

Right on the N2 this the amazing Lidl Castro verde Portugal which offers free 24 stop for motorhomes, campers and tv drivers completing the N2 road trip

Plus ……

Yes plus a ‘La Wash’, a new one on me but a very similar concept to the laundries that you see on motorway service stations and the like in the uk.

La Wash , inside this building is a self service laundry situated at the amazing Lidl Castro verde Portugal which offers free 24 stop fir motorhomes

So that was shopping and laundry taken care of, now just somewhere to stay, there is a known wild spot just up the road by the windmill.

But absolutely no need Lidl are happy for customers here to overnight for a maximum of 24 hours – perfect !

With all the chores done we set about two things, finding a bite to eat for lunch and exploring the beautiful town of Castro Verde.
