I thought today I would have a go at answering one of questions that constantly appear on motorhomer’s lips…… Gas
Paloma, our trusty motorhome had gas heating and hot water in her
The gas also operates the fridge when we are not connected to the mains, which is a lot of the time !
And finally we have a gas hob to cook on,
So gas is vital for everyday life !
Before leaving I fitted a twin 6kg Gaslow refillable system with external fill point
Everyone’s different, but for us, the Gaslow system was a must have! We needed a way to be able to have a constant fuel supply, without the need to go and hunt out a new bottle and regulator each time we crossed into another country.
So the sight of gleaming stainless steel tubes wiggling from the bright yellow Gaslow cylinder are a welcome site to us….
So safe, secure and well manufactured, the Gaslow system’s initial outlay may seem expensive yet there is something deeply pleasing about the ease of refilling the cylinder at a petrol station. All for a few euros !
The system may costs the price a few hundred quid, but it provides simplicity when travelling long term .
I have taken the time to design a simple spreadsheet to compare the cost, allowing you to see how long the ROI would be, but this does not take into account the ease……

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE SYSTEM TO OTHERS ?….
Speaking from our experience we would recommend this system.
Experiences that include a sub zero stay in the UK, the system performed without a glitch with no frozen gas bottles! Unlike the calor butane bottle we had on our first Caravan…..
No lugging about full bottles
No waiting for the bottle to run out before topping up
No hunting for the gas spanner in the pitch black
But one thing is certain, we simply wouldn’t be without it, it is a must to explore Europe. Free from concerns of running out of gas and having to hunt out European bottles
HOW DO YOU FIND PLACES TO REFILL ?…
We use mylpg.eu they have mapped virtually every LPG filling station in Europe. It is free to use as well.
