Romantic road – Rain and Augsburg .

So again we headed out on the romantic road, this time heading towards Bavaria’s third largest city Augsburg .

As the scenic route opened out revealing more stunning lush landscapes, Paloma pottered along at a steady 55-60km, until we came across Rain.

Rain seemed perfect for a lunch time stop, with a massive free Carpark, motorhome overnight parking also available free of charge.

So a bite to eat and then we unstrapped the bike’s from the back of Paloma, donned our cycle helmets and set off towards the town centre.

Rain town centre was a pretty little place, with the main attraction being the Rocco town hall although many of the other buildings in the town probably dated back as far.

Although we could have easily overnight here, Michele was convinced that I would be bored so we carried on toward our original destination of Augsburg.

The camperstop book came up trumps again finding us a low cost camper park only a few meters from the city centre, located directly onto the river.

Augsburg itself is a fantastic city, with in a few minutes of popping into the tourist office, we were viewing its many historic sights and magnificent fountains.

A hard day of the feet pounding the pavements, but well worth it !

One of the many sights in the city is “Mozart House” the birthplace of Wolfgangs father and almost in celebration of this dotted around the city, were pianos which invites for anyone to stop and play, filling the air with sweet sweet music.

Probably one of the greatest finds of the day, whilst looking at what was a metropol city we found hiding around the corner a market filled with the freshest produce I’ve seen for a long time – pays to just go for a wounder sometimes.
