European motorhome Travel- VanlifeFrance

It’s not the end ……

In the words of all great cartoon endings

“That’s all folks!”

Paloma, our motorhome is sitting under the grey skies in the aire (N48.712230 W3.999170) which looks out at the Le Marche, across the grey water we can make out the town of Roscoff in the distance, gently illuminated from under dark, stormy skies.

We feel lost today as although we know it’s not the end and tomorrow will bring another challenge but for today at least we feel a little bit insignificant, after all tomorrow we will no longer be on an adventure around Europe.

Today we’ve been shopping, we popped into the Geant near Morlaix, after a couple of hours of being wild in the isles and a small spend of €150, well it’s nearly Christmas and we needed some wine !

Paloma is weighed down with tasty French food, little bottles of fizzy beer and copious amounts of wine.

Sadly we skipped the single malts as they were priced through the roof !

We’ve heard things are getting expensive in the UK, so we’re stocked up ready. Her tank is full of expensive French diesel ( although I’m sure it’s cheaper than the uk) and the Gaslow bottles refilled!

I can hand on heart say that “I’ve had the time of my life” These past eight months have been a blast and we’ve loved every minute.

If anyone ever asked me if they should, I could only answer with ‘ tell me why not?’

We’ve had such an amazing time, learned a shed load about ourselves, about Europe and its history.

We’ve met some amazing people and made friendships that will last a lifetime, who will ever forget a fisherman who brings you mussels, a Shepard you help find their lost flock or the English man who shares his last bottle of ‘proper job’ with you…..

To everyone we’ve meet, I humbly thank you!

We also have made more memories than you can shake a stick at and have so many stories to bore the socks off anyone we meet.

But I can’t lie to you, there are tears in my eyes as I type this. I am sad it’s all coming to an end, I know we’ve chosen to end it and take on a new challenge but sat here looking out to sea, I have a few pangs……

We managed a little walk around the town of Roscoff, which was a real pleasant way to while away the time before our ferry.

However in a few days, once we’ve pulled off the surprise Christmas visit (who couldn’t love a prodigal son), I’m 100% sure we will look back and be able to fully appreciate what an amazing experience we’ve had.

So what next ?

Amazingly this site seems to attract thousands upon thousands of views, which once again I thank you all !

We’ll carry on posting updates of how we settle back in, the new challenge, what we’re up to and more stuff about the jobs we need to do to update Paloma.

That’s until we hopefully ( fingers crossed we set off in November) for our adventure part 2….

We’ve set ourselves a goal to write a book, well ok a friend set us a goal, about a couple weeks into our travels and I’ve been toying with the idea ever since and jotted down a few thoughts as I go…..

Don’t worry you wont miss the shameless plug !!

So I’ll finish by wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2018.

Safe travels
